Privacy Policy

We collect the data you provide or generate while using Goala, including name, email, account identifiers, preferences, language, profile photo, and other registration information.

We also collect wellness, fitness, and nutrition data such as age, height, weight, goals, progress, meal logs, calories, macronutrients, food history, GLP-1 treatment data you choose to share, onboarding responses, and plan settings.

When you use the camera, gallery, or upload features, we may process photos, meal images, food descriptions, barcodes, and other data needed to estimate nutritional information and save your logs.

We collect technical and usage data such as device or installation identifiers, operating system, app version, navigation events, interactions, diagnostics, logs, approximate IP address, and purchase or subscription data.

We use your data to create and maintain your account, log meals, estimate calories and nutrients, track weight and progress, personalize goals, display history, sync data with our backend, and deliver the app's core features.

We also use data to process subscriptions and purchases, send service-related communications, provide support, fix errors, measure performance, understand how the app is used, prevent fraud, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

Goala is a wellness and fitness app. It does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or professional care.

Your data is stored in our backend so Goala works across sessions and devices. We do not sell your personal data.

We may share or make data available to service providers acting on our behalf, including Firebase/Google for authentication, infrastructure, database, notifications, analytics, logs, or diagnostics; PostHog for product analytics and usage events; RevenueCat for subscription management, purchases, and access status; and processing, hosting, support, security, or nutrition analysis providers as needed to operate the service.

These providers may process data such as user or device identifiers, usage events, technical information, subscription data, and, when necessary for the requested feature, data you submit to the app. They are not authorized to use your data for their own purposes incompatible with providing services to Goala.

We may also disclose data if required by law, by order of a competent authority, to protect rights, to investigate fraud, or for app security.

Goala uses artificial intelligence (AI) models provided by third parties to process meal images and estimate nutritional information. When you take or upload a photo of a meal, the image is sent to our backend and processed by these AI models solely to generate the nutrition estimate displayed in the app.

Images you submit are used only for the purpose of recognizing the food in that specific moment. We do not use your images to train, improve, or develop AI models, except with your separate and explicit consent. We do not share your images with AI providers for their own purposes.

The AI providers that process this data act as service providers under our instruction, with contracts requiring confidentiality, security, and limitation of use to the terms described in this policy.

Goala does not currently use Apple Health / HealthKit, does not read data from Apple Health, and does not write data to Apple Health.

If an Apple Health integration is added in the future, we will request specific device permission and update this policy before using that data.

Your meal logs, photos, weight, profile, treatment data, and progress are not publicly disclosed by Goala.

You control the content you choose to submit, save, or share outside the app. If you use sharing features, the selected information may be handled by the destination app, service, or person.

We adopt technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or improper disclosure. However, no system is completely infallible.

We retain data for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and keep legitimate business records. Data associated with your account can be deleted or anonymized upon request, except when retention is required or permitted by law.

You may request access, correction, updating, export, or deletion of your personal data, as well as revoke consent when applicable, in accordance with applicable law.

You can also manage device permissions such as camera, photos, and notifications in your operating system settings. Disabling permissions may limit some app features.

Goala is not directed at children. If we identify that we have collected data from a child without legally required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in the app, service providers, legal requirements, or data handling practices. Material changes will be communicated through appropriate channels.
